Pen15 is a show about some old best friends who are 31 years old playing versions of themselves as 13-year-olds. The show itself is more cheerful than its name. Maybe they should think about a representable name. However, the creators of Pen15 are Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle. What makes this show more special is that Maya and Anna are playing the 13-year-old-girls. But both actors look younger than they are indeed and they're very talented so anyone can't understand the gimmick and it leaves behind the story. Maya and Anna can't be separated from each other so they have decided to experience everything together starting with the first kiss till the cigarettes. Both aren't on the list of popular girls. They don't like to be shown very much in public and are interacting with people. And between them, Maya is a more outspoken person than Anna. They like boys and they think about them like everyone in high school. To have a boyfriend in high school seems to pretend like the most important thing in school.
Furthermore About Pen15 Series
Later the Pen15 becomes more about talking about the fights they have with their parents. So the center of the show becomes family, friendship, and trust. The show treats so many important topics and gives lessons in the end about how we forgive the people we love. Along the way, both friends make awful mistakes about their friendship and belong to that. So they end up hurting one another's feelings. Watching about their conflicts may look ridiculous but these conflicts contain huge feelings. These types of conflicts may be blot out the sun but this can change if you know how to respect these feelings. Puberty is such a delicate part of everyone's life. Life looks like it moves faster than it is and you feel like everything can change in every second. While their games pretend to go out of control both of them discover undeveloped emotions. It's true that the Pen15 is funnier and weirder but aren't those who made the show successful and unique from other shows. It's because their creators show compassion about their younger self and this is compassion that normally isn't shown to Mayas or Annas of the other world. It treats the school traumas like gossip, being desperate to fit in, becoming someone for your parents, etc. Even Maya and Anna still play with dolls they know that they may be too old to do these kinds of stuff but they may be too young to do beyond this stuff. In later episodes look like the Pen15 goes so far where you can find yourself being nostalgic about these years of your life. Their most important and primary thing is their friendship. But no matter how much they try to give the best about it as everything in this life nothing is perfect. While watching the girls getting over these difficult moments the show itself goes in a deeper truth that makes even you feel that pain.
